Tour Description
Cultural tour of the South Valley visiting Tipon, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas, combining Inca, pre-Inca and colonial history in half a day.
The South Valley Cusco Tour is a cultural experience that allows you to discover the historical diversity of the region in half a day. The adventure begins with a hotel pickup at around 8:00 a.m., heading south of the city to explore important archaeological and colonial sites.
The first stop is Tipon, an Inca complex renowned for its impressive system of channels and agricultural terraces that still function today, reflecting the advanced hydraulic engineering of the Incas. The tour then continues to Pikillacta, an ancient pre-Inca city of the Wari culture, characterized by its rectangular structures, organized streets and walls that evidence an advanced urban design.
Finally, the Andahuaylillas church is visited, considered the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” for the artistic richness of its interior. Its murals, altarpieces and gilded details display the fusion of Andean and European culture during the colonial period.
